Exceptional Breast Lift and Breast Reduction

So that women who have sagging breasts or overly large breasts can attain the look they desire, Forma Plastic Surgery offers breast lift and breast reduction surgery. Our patients in the Scottsdale and Phoenix areas have achieved outstanding results because our surgeons carefully consider each patients goals and use the most advanced surgical techniques. Breast lift surgery can restore perkiness to droopy breasts for a remarkably rejuvenated appearance. Breast reduction surgery helps patients overcome the discomfort and other physical problems caused by overly large breasts. Both procedures help patients improve their self-esteem and self-confidence.

Breast Lift Surgery

Women who have breasts that sag due to aging, childbirth, weight gain, or another reason can benefit from breast lift surgery. In the procedure, the surgeon removes excess skin and tissue and re-contours the breasts to a perkier, more desirable appearance. Breast lift surgery can help patients achieve truly dramatic results, rejuvenating their overall look and improving self-confidence.

Before Breast Lift Surgery

Before performing breast lift surgery, our surgeons meet with the patient in an initial consultation to determine if she is a good candidate for the procedure and to discuss the procedure's risks and benefits. During the consultation, the surgeons will help the patient decide if the breast lift surgery should be performed on its own or also as a breast augmentation procedure with breast implants for added enhancement.

Once the patient has been determined to be a good candidate for breast lift surgery by our surgeons, she will undergo a mammogram and may be prescribed certain medications. All breast lift patients who smoke are advised to quit smoking at least four weeks before the procedure. Also, patients should avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners, and other similar medications because they can increase bleeding.

Breast Lift Procedure

The incisions used in breast lift surgery vary depending on the needs of the patient. The surgeon will discuss with the patient the incision technique that will provide optimal results and will provide the patient with an honest assessment of the residual scarring she can expect. Once incisions are made, excess skin and tissue are removed to lift and reshape the breasts, and the nipples are placed in a higher position. If the patient desires, breast implants will also be placed.

Results and Recovery

Breast lift surgery can produce breathtaking results. However, it is important for patients to understand that the recovery process for breast lift surgery is relatively long. In the first several weeks following breast lift surgery, patients can expect to experience soreness and numbness in the nipples. As recovery progresses, patients can slowly resume normal activities, but they must avoid lifting heavy objects for at least 4 to 6 weeks. The full results of breast lift surgery can take several months to become apparent.

Breast Reduction Surgery

While popular culture may idealize large breasts as a blessing, many women who have overly large breasts know that they can cause constant discomfort and even relatively serious medical problems. Large, heavy breasts can be a source of ongoing shoulder and neck pain, discomfort from bra straps digging into the skin, and breathing and skeletal problems, and they can draw unwanted, embarrassing attention. At Forma Plastic Surgery, we offer breast reduction surgery so women can attain relief from the discomfort and physical limitations imposed by overly large breasts. Our surgeons help patients achieve improved contours and a better overall body aesthetic, as well as greater self-confidence and enhanced enjoyment of daily life.

Before Breast Reduction Surgery

Before proceeding with breast reduction surgery, our doctors meet with the patient in a private consultation to determine if she is a good candidate for the procedures. Our skilled surgeons will examine the patient's medical history to ensure that there are no medical conditions that may pose a danger during or after surgery. They will discuss the procedure in detail, including its risks, with the patient and make sure that she has reasonable expectations for the results she can expect to achieve.

Women who choose to undergo breast reduction surgery should avoid taking aspirin and other medications that can thin the blood. If a patient is not sure about the medications she is currently taking, our doctors can provide expert advice. All patients should be open and honest about the medications they are using to help avoid the risk of complications during or after surgery. Women who smoke should quit at least two weeks prior to undergoing breast lift surgery. Because intravenous sedation and/or general anesthesia are used during the procedure, patients should arrange to have a friend or family member drive them home after surgery.

Breast Reduction Procedure

The location of the incisions made during breast reduction surgery will depend on the needs of the patient. The breast reduction procedure generally leaves scarring that will fade over time but will remain noticeable; this will be discussed with the patient during the initial consultation. Once the incisions are made, the surgeon removes excess tissue and skin, and lifts and shapes the breasts for an improved appearance. The nipples are often moved to a higher position as well. Then the surgeon layers a series of sutures within the breast tissue to maintain lift and shape, and finally closes the incisions with sutures or other means. Dressings or bandages will be applied to the incision sites, and patients may have to wear a compression garment to facilitate healing.

Breast Reduction Results and Recovery

After breast reduction surgery, the breasts will be swollen and sore, and patients are often instructed to wear a surgical or athletic bra for additional support. Activity should be kept to a minimum for about two weeks, and any heavy pushing or lifting should be avoided for at least a month. Patients may temporarily lose sensation in the nipples for the first few months after surgery. However, this is normal and sensation does return slowly. The final results from breast reduction surgery can take several months to become fully apparent.

After the breasts have healed, the many benefits of breast reduction surgery become fully apparent. Our patients who undergo the procedure express their relief and happiness of being free from the discomforts and physical limitations caused by overly large breasts. They enjoy their new, rejuvenated look, and they experience a boost in self-confidence and self-esteem.
